Coated paper has a coating on its surface, so it can be printed in bright colors.

Common fashion magazines, posters, picture albums, mostly this kind of paper.

May be different thickness, brand, surface brightness (such as looking matte effect, is matte coated paper, of course, there may be done), but the type is generally the same, coated paper is mainly white.

If it’s a book or a magazine that feels heavy when you lift it, it’s mostly this kind of paper.

The printing shop you are talking about should be the kind of quick printing shop on the street, which generally provides this kind of paper.

Book paper, as the name implies, can be understood as the paper on which books are printed.

When we were young, the textbooks in class were usually just paper.

Office printing paper is the most typical and common type of book paper.

Book paper is not coated, so the printing color is generally not very bright, mainly to print text.

Small print shops, basically this kind of paper.

If a book or magazine feels lighter, it’s basically book paper.

Even if the name is not book paper, it is also in this category.

Book paper in addition to white, generally there are beige, yellow and so on.

Thickness.

The thickness of paper is usually described by the word “gram” (meaning how many grams (per square meter of paper) it weighs).

For example, 200 grams of coated paper, the thickness is about 0.18 mm, 250 grams of coated paper, the thickness is about 0.22 mm.

How thick is this thickness?

The covers of big fashion magazines on newsstands, many of which are 200 or 250 grams, can be felt.

For the same type of paper, different grams of weight corresponds to different thickness.

There will be slight differences between different manufacturers and brands, but not much.

But different kinds of paper, the same weight, their thickness can be very different.

For example, 90g of book paper is much thicker than 90g of coated paper.

The thickness of the paper according to the market demand and production process restrictions, generally has its fixed weight, coated paper common weight: 80, 90, 105, 128, 157, 200, 250, 300, 350;

Book paper is common gram weight: 70 (feel a little thin printing paper gram weight), 80 (feel thicker printing paper gram weight), 100, 120, 140, 180 and so on.

There will be some differences between brands, but the mainstream is basically the same.

In addition to the above two categories, you may also have seen a lot of different colors, different patterns, different printing effect of the “paper”, that involves another large piece of paper, we are collectively called: special paper.

The reason why I put paper in quotation marks here is that a lot of what you think of as the effect of paper may not be the effect of paper itself, but the effect of other surface treatment processes.

To be precise, special paper is a very broad concept, not a paper class.

Any paper we think of as unconventional use, in fact, can be called special paper.

Special paper can be different in color, thickness, texture, printing effect, gloss, stiffness and many other dimensions.

This is about to choose according to your specific needs.

You said that you want to print the work, it is not clear if your work is like a single painting, or a portfolio like picture album.

Generally speaking, if you do not have special requirements, and the color of the work is rich, the number is not large, the type of ordinary coated paper is good.

If the number of pages is small, you can use high thickness, such as 250g, 300g, if the number of pages, you can use thin, such as 105,128, etc.

The quantity is not large. Coated paper can be generally solved in the printing shop you mentioned above. The advantage of digital printing is that it is fast and relatively cheap with a small quantity.

The disadvantage is that the printing quality is uneven, most may not be very good.

If the number is more, such as more than 1000, then you can consider the printing plant, printing can achieve the quality of better than ordinary digital printing, but the final effect is good to see you look for the quality control of the printing plant.
